Pediatric occupational therapy addresses the many “occupations” within the roles of childhood by improving performance skills: motor skills, process skills and social interaction skills. Improving these skills allow children to experience increased independence and improved function in age-appropriate activities.

Does my child need an IEP or a diagnosis to see you?
No. I am a private occupational therapist working to improve function for all children, period. However, therapy is only appropriate if there is a deficit in functional skills.
How long will my child need therapy?
My goal is to meet the goals set with the child and family as quickly as possible. Length of service will vary depending on what functional skills are being addressed. The level of skill acquisition needed will also impact service length.
Can you help us at home?
Absolutely! Assisting children and families at home is an area that frequently is not addressed. Children may receive services at school to assist them in managing their environment but when they get home it is hard to follow the same strategies. I enjoy looking at how a child functions in their home environment and making suggestions for home life.
Where does therapy take place?
I deliver occupational therapy services in home and within the community. Children have many roles: sons/daughters, siblings, students, friends, athletes, community members... My approach is to look at the child in the context of these roles and provide services with this in mind. For example, services can be delivered at home, some schools, day care, or during group activities in the community to name a few options.
Do you take insurance?
I have opted to be an out-of-network provider. I will provide you with all necessary documentation to submit for out-of-network benefits and reimbursement. Prior to therapy, please familiarize yourself with your insurance company’s benefits and requirements particularly if pre-certification is required. Some services may not be covered.
"Thea brought not only experience and training to her Therapeutic Listening work- but also the gift of time. We never felt rushed or hurried with our son’s treatments- Thea was thorough and careful in her in-depth therapeutic conversations with our son. The results are great. Our son experiences less auditory defensiveness and more confidence as a result of his sessions with Thea." Deborah H. - New Providence, NJ
"Thea was such an asset during a difficult preschool experience for our family. Thea stepped as a liaison between school and family, and conducted a thorough in school and home evaluation, comparing notes and analyzing data across both settings. Her findings were objective, and she offered a lot of great insight into behaviors and supports that helped us tremendously. Thea really went above and beyond to help us understand how to support our toddler, both at home, and at school and was such a pleasure to work with. As an educator myself, I can say I learned so much from the experience and our LO still asks for sessions with her. Highly recommend her services!" R.C. - Westfield, NJ
