An occupational therapy screening will consist of a basic assessment of a child's skill levels in relationship to developmental expectations considering the context of his/her environment.
An occupational therapy consultation can be with a parent, teacher, or community member. Consultation will include information gathering, followed by communication of suggestions based on the child's needs. Potentially a more formal child screening may be recommended. This can be a stand alone, one time service, or can be ongoing depending on what is appropriate.
An occupational therapy evaluation may is a formal or an informal assessment. These can be completed to set goals and direct treatment through Whole Child Therapist or they can be used for outside school assessments.
Following completion of an initial assessment or screening, goals and objectives will be set with the child and family. Direct therapy services will be delivered at the agreed upon location to address those goals and objectives.
For some children Handwriting Tutoring is available.
An occupational therapy assessment of sensory modulation will be completed. Based on the needs of the child, and input from the family, a sensory plan will be developed to be implemented at home.
An occupational therapy assessment of the child's home environment will be completed. Suggestions for adapting or augmenting the environment to improve the child's level of independence at home will be developed. A plan will be shared.
